Does a home gym need specialist flooring?
Yes. Dynamic and concentrated loads are applied to the floor in a home gym through equipment, free weights and jumping. Slip-resistant gym flooring made from PU-bound rubber granules reduces impact sound and structure-borne sound, protects the subfloor and absorbs part of the impact energy.
Tile thickness depends on the type of training. Tiles from around 1 cm are often sufficient for cardio, while thicker tiles are selected for floor exercises, free-weight areas and equipment zones.
