Frequently asked questions

Do expansion joints need to be allowed for when laying rubber tiles?

No. Expansion joints are not required when laying WARCO rubber tiles. PU-bound rubber granules, like timber, undergo slight changes in volume as a result of heat, cold, moisture and ageing.

Rubber tiles have low stiffness and are laid loose, without adhesive. Their elasticity allows the tiled surface to accommodate these minor dimensional changes without harmful stresses developing. Unlike rigid tiled finishes, they do not need separate expansion joints. Lay the tiles edge to edge and, where required, up to a continuous perimeter edging.

When measuring the area, do not allow for joints. Calculate the number of tiles from the area to be covered and add only the usual wastage for edge cuts and cut-outs. Follow the laying instructions, particularly the recommended laying temperature.
