Should I tile my balcony?
A balcony can be tiled with ceramic or natural stone tiles that are frost-resistant and approved for outdoor use.
The tiles themselves are watertight, but the joints do not stay watertight over time, so the covering as a whole lets water through eventually. If water enters the build-up, freeze-thaw cycles can cause cracks and spalling. A tiled balcony therefore needs an adequate fall for drainage and a waterproofing layer beneath the covering, which makes laying it more involved.
