Frequently asked questions

What type of underlay is suitable for fitness equipment?

Slip-resistant, impact-absorbing fitness tiles made from PU-bound rubber granules are suitable as an underlay for fitness equipment. They reduce noise, particularly the transmission of structure-borne sound, and protect the floor beneath from pressure marks and abrasion. A firm, level surface is required so that all equipment feet rest evenly and, where possible, are not positioned on a tile joint. Significant unevenness should be levelled beforehand.

An underlay is particularly useful beneath cardio equipment, racks, weight benches, strength stations and equipment with small contact points. For cardio equipment, fitness tiles from around 1 cm thick are often sufficient, while thicker tiles are used for heavy equipment. Where equipment feet are small or narrow, a metal plate can be placed underneath to spread concentrated loads. Low-frequency vibrations, for example from dropped weights, generally require a multi-layer training floor.
