What is a tile layout plan?
A tile layout plan is a scale drawing of the area to be covered. It shows how the individual tiles will be arranged before installation begins, helping to avoid mistakes in area calculations and when ordering tiles and accessories. A scale of 1:100 is commonly used, so 1 centimetre on graph or squared paper represents 1 metre in the actual area.
The plan can be used to choose the most economical laying direction, count the tiles shown on the drawing to establish the number required and keep cutting waste to a minimum. It also allows different laying patterns and colour combinations to be tested in advance, so the eventual appearance can be seen on paper.
Anyone who would rather not draw the area by hand can use WARCO’s online laying planner, available in the shop for almost every WARCO floor covering. Once the area dimensions have been entered, the planner suggests suitable laying patterns and automatically calculates the number of tiles required.
