Gym equipment flooring for exercise equipment?

Gym equipment flooring for a home gym requires a specialist gym floor covering designed for localised and dynamic loads from exercise equipment, free weights, jumps and other movement-intensive exercises.

For such exercises, a gym floor covering made from PU-bound Rubber granules is Slip-resistant, protects the substrate, absorbs part of the impact energy, and attenuates shocks and vibrations.

For effective basic cushioning during such exercises, the gym floor covering should be at least 10 mm thick. The required performance rises with equipment weight, impact loading and the possible drop height of weights.

This cushioning performance cannot be determined from thickness alone. The relevant performance values of the specific gym floor covering, such as force reduction and impact sound reduction, are decisive. Density and granule fraction are particularly important to these values.

Where dumbbells are dropped, gym flooring matched to the weight and drop height is required. Building protection mats and comparable makeshift products are not designed for use as gym flooring.
