Which laying patterns are possible for these tiles?
The choice of laying pattern depends on the tile type and its connection system. In general, you can select from various patterns:
– Cross bond (checkerboard): tiles are aligned precisely in rows and columns
– Diagonal bond: a variation of the cross bond, rotated by 45 degrees
– Half bond (brick bond): each row is offset by half a tile length relative to the previous row
– Random bond: each row is offset arbitrarily, commonly seen in laminate or timber flooring
Tiles without a connection system can be laid in any pattern. Tiles with connectors must always be installed in a half bond. Products featuring a puzzle connection (including concealed versions) are typically laid in a cross or diagonal bond; larger formats can also allow a half-bond pattern.
However, the stability of the finished surface depends more on the type of tile connection and proper installation than on the pattern itself. Whether you opt for a checkerboard layout, a half bond, or a random offset ultimately comes down to your tile’s construction and personal design preferences.
