What thickness should a terrace tile have?
The thickness of a terrace tile mainly depends on the material used and the installation method. Ceramic tiles, which are fully adhered to the screed, typically have a thickness of 5 to 10 mm. Concrete tiles that are laid on sand, gravel, or plastic supports should be about 40 to 60 mm thick, depending on their format, to ensure they do not break under load.
For wooden planks or wood tiles, the usual thickness ranges from 15 to 60 mm – the required thickness depends on the spacing of the support beams: the greater the span, the thicker the plank should be.
WARCO terrace tiles made of PU-bound rubber granulate are generally recommended in a thickness range of 20 to 40 mm, depending on the subfloor and the size of the terrace.
It is advisable to consult the supplier to determine the optimal tile thickness and installation method for your specific situation.
