Which flooring is best suited for a balcony?
There are numerous flooring options available for balconies, but not all are ideal.
For instance, artificial turf is difficult to keep clean, while wooden tiles tend to accumulate dirt and may rot over time. Ceramic and natural stone tiles require a complex installation process and often detach from the balcony slab after only a few years due to weathering.
The ideal balcony flooring should be slip-resistant in both wet and dry conditions. It must also be weather- and frost-resistant, comfortable to walk on barefoot, impact-absorbing, and soundproof. Low maintenance and easy cleaning are crucial, as are the overall costs for material, installation, and upkeep.
A highly recommended option is the PU-bound rubber granulate balcony tiles offered by WARCO. These tiles are installed using a floating method and interlock via integrated connectors to form a stable surface. With a minimum thickness of 18 mm, they reduce impact noise, provide thermal insulation against ground cold, and even offer fall protection. They remain slip-resistant in all weather conditions, resist frost, and are available in a wide range of attractive colours – resulting in considerably lower long-term costs.
