When is a balcony renovation necessary?
A balcony should be renovated when it exhibits visible signs of wear or damage that affect its functionality, safety, or appearance.
Typical indicators include cracks, spalling, discoloration, uneven surfaces, or moisture penetration. These issues are primarily caused by weather conditions such as rain, sunlight, frost, and mechanical stress.
Such deterioration can reduce the load-bearing capacity of the balcony and pose a significant safety risk, as leaks may lead to moisture damage in the building.
Renovation is also advisable if the flooring is worn or no longer meets the required standards.
In these cases, installing terrace slabs made of bound rubber granulate – such as those offered by WARCO – has proven to be a practical solution. These slabs are installed in a floating manner, are weather-resistant, provide sound and thermal insulation, are slip-resistant and comfortable, which results in considerably lower overall costs in the long term.
