What are WARCO rubber tiles made of?
WARCO rubber tiles are made from PU-bound rubber granules. They contain around 90% rubber granules and around 10% polyurethane binder. The individual granules are irregularly shaped and have an edge length of up to 5 mm. These granules are produced by shredding and grinding larger pieces of rubber.
Two types of rubber granules are used. Black recycled tyre rubber granules (ELT) are produced by recycling end-of-life tyres and consist mainly of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and natural rubber (NR). Coloured EPDM rubber granules are newly manufactured and through-coloured.
The binder is a solvent-free, one-component polyurethane. It cures on contact with moisture, leaving the polyurethane fully reacted in the finished floor covering. For tiles made from recycled tyre rubber granules (ELT), colour is provided by a pigmented binder that coats each granule. Two-layer tiles have an EPDM wear layer that is colour-stable and UV-resistant.
