How do you waterproof a terrace?

Waterproofing a terrace provides long-term protection for the building structure beneath against penetrating water. The key is to apply the waterproofing beneath the finished floor covering, directly onto a sound, clean substrate, and to ensure adequate falls for reliable drainage.

ALLESDICHT is applied as a liquid-applied membrane directly to the prepared substrate, such as concrete, screed, existing tiles or bitumen. Its main advantage on terraces is the seamless, crack-bridging rubber skin, which also seals junctions to the house wall, door threshold and drains without joints, areas where sheet membranes often have weak points.

Apply ALLESDICHT in at least three coats. According to the test certificate, the required dry-film thickness is at least 3 mm. Where water exposure is greater, for example where water may pond temporarily, a dry-film thickness of at least 4 mm is required. With this build-up, the elastic waterproofing membrane bridges cracks in the substrate up to 0.5 mm wide.

Once the waterproofing has dried completely, the chosen terrace finish, rubber tiles, ceramic tiles or an additional coating, can be installed directly onto the waterproofed surface.
