How do you waterproof a balcony?

Because of their exposed position and the way they connect to the building, balconies are particularly susceptible to moisture damage. Thermal movement, cracks in the concrete and leaking wall junctions are among the most common causes of water ingress.

A liquid-applied membrane such as ALLESDICHT addresses exactly these weak points. The elastic, crack-bridging rubber membrane accommodates thermal movement and bridges cracks in the substrate up to 0.5 mm wide. At the house wall, balustrade and drain outlet, the waterproofing is carried seamlessly up the upstand, while reinforcing scrim provides additional stability at these transitions. Along the exposed edge, a drip edge ensures that water drains away in a controlled manner.

The substrate (concrete, screed or existing tiles) must be clean, dry and sound. ALLESDICHT is applied in at least three coats. According to the test certificate, the required dry-film thickness is at least 3 mm, or 4 mm where water exposure is greater. For balconies, it is important that the falls towards the drain are already correct before waterproofing, as ALLESDICHT follows the existing surface profile but does not correct it.
