These rubber block pavers combine the comfort and quietness of an elastic surface with the dependable stability of traditional interlocking concrete block paving. Each paver is pressed from rubber granulate made from end-of-life tyres (ELT) and a durable polyurethane binder, producing a resilient, quiet and slip-resistant paving element.
Properties & applications
Thanks to their high density and well-balanced granulate mix, the pavers are light, elastic, strong and highly wear-resistant. They are ideal for schoolyards, multifunctional outdoor spaces, shared-space play streets, courtyards, pedestrian routes and parking areas in residential or hospitality environments. They are equally suitable for sports facilities, golf pathways, and equestrian areas such as horse walkers and stable yards.
Elastic, stable and vibration-dampening
The lightly elastic surface provides effective impact absorption and noticeably reduces footfall, scraping and rolling noise, such as suitcase rattling. The surface offers reliable slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions and feels pleasantly secure underfoot. Despite their elasticity, paved areas made with Dog Bone Pavers can be driven on or used as temporary event or display surfaces.
Secure interlocking system
The standardised H-shaped geometry ensures that each paver is firmly interlocked by its neighbours on all sides. This creates a stable interlock that prevents lateral movement and distributes both static and moving loads safely throughout the paved area. The result is a durable, reliable and structurally stable surface.
Installation & everyday performance
Rubber Block Paving is installed just like conventional block paving on a solid, well-draining sub-base. Individual pavers can be cut cleanly on site to form neat edges, curves or transitions. In daily use, the surface is easy to maintain: sweeping, blowing or wet cleaning — including mechanical sweepers or pressure washers — keeps the area clean. Unlike concrete pavers, they do not chip or crack.
Long-term performance
The pavers are frost-resistant, weatherproof and maintain their shape over many years. Their elasticity, slip resistance and wear resistance remain consistent throughout their service life. This makes Rubber Block Paving a durable, low-noise and economical solution for private, public and commercial areas — including sports facilities, equestrian yards and golf courses.

Wheeled suitcases, skateboards and hard shoe heels are noticeably loud on pathways and in courtyards mainly because the surface gives very little. Small, hard wheels briefly lift as they cross edges and joints, then strike the surface again. Hard heels create a short impact with every step. The result is a bright clatter and rattle that echoes back and forth between tall façades. In hotels and residential developments, this noise is especially noticeable during the evening and at night because there is little background sound to mask it.
Pathway tiles and rubber interlocking pavers made from PU-bound rubber granules give slightly beneath wheels and heels and absorb some of each impact. Spreading the impact over a little more time makes the hard, high-frequency components less pronounced at source. Internal friction within the rubber structure also converts part of the vibration into heat. Consequently, less structure-borne sound passes through the covering into the base layer.
Dimensionally calibrated pathway tiles with rounded puzzle interlocking edges form an almost joint-free covering, so wheels meet raised edges much less often. This requires an even substrate with all tiles at the same level. In courtyards above underground car parks, less vibration also reaches the floor slab. How much sound is heard in the room below depends on the slab and floor construction. A path in use does not become silent because wheels and bearings remain audible. Even so, the hard, impulsive component becomes markedly less prominent, and that is the sound which stands out most in a courtyard. WARCO supplies pathway tiles and rubber interlocking pavers in several thicknesses.
