The WARCO Stable mat HD is a robust stable floor for horses and ponies, designed for use in stalls, loose housing and open stables. Measuring 100 × 100 cm with a thickness of 4 cm, it provides a secure and easy-to-clean standing and lying surface that horses and ponies readily accept.
Material and structure
The Stable mat HD is made from a blend of ELT rubber granules and fibres. The particles are bonded with polyurethane and pressed in moulds under high pressure to create mats with increased density. The result is a particularly durable mat that is slightly elastic yet consistently stable.
Comfort and safety
The non-slip, textured surface provides reliable grip. It makes rising easier and ensures a firm footing even during sudden movements. At 40 mm thick, the Stable mat HD effectively insulates against cold from the ground and supports the animals’ well-being.
Profiled underside
The profiled underside improves both thermal and acoustic insulation. With adequate slope, it also allows liquids to drain away.
Installation and handling
The large-format Stable mats are laid in a staggered pattern; they are normally not connected to each other. As a result, they can be lifted out for cleaning and relaid with ease. For long-term stability, the surface should be enclosed with a solid edge.
Use and hygiene
As with all stable mats, horses should not be forced to urinate directly on them. Either permanent access to a paddock with sand or grass must be provided, or a toilet corner with bedding should be set up inside the stable. This way, urine is absorbed immediately, ammonia build-up is prevented and hygiene is improved. The bedding used in the toilet area can then be removed during daily mucking out.
Economy
When used correctly, a stable floor made from Stable mats reduces the need for bedding and the volume of manure considerably. It also helps to improve the stable climate by reducing dust and ammonia. In many cases, the investment pays back within 12 to 18 months.

Comparative values
The number of tiles required for an irregular area can be calculated manually or determined using the digital laying planner.
For irregular areas, a scaled laying plan on graph paper is recommended. For the manual calculation method, draw the area on graph paper at a scale of 1:100, where 1 cm corresponds to 1 m. Place the tile grid over the drawing and draw the tiles within the area according to their laying dimensions. The drawing shows where offcuts will be required and allows the required number of tiles to be counted.
The online laying planner determines the quantity required more quickly than the manual calculation method. It is available for every product in the online shop. Once the area dimensions have been entered, the tool automatically calculates the number of tiles required and displays a suitable laying pattern. On the product page, simply click ‘Plan installation’. The planner works directly in the browser, is free of charge and does not require registration.
Installation of many WARCO rubber tiles can be carried out without a specialist contractor.
WARCO rubber tiles can be used as flooring for patios and balconies, as fitness flooring and as playground safety surfacing. This requires the product, substrate and build-up to be appropriate for the intended application.
The tiles are loose-laid. Depending on the range, they are joined using a puzzle-style interlock or plastic connectors.
Preparation of the substrate and any necessary edge cutting can be managed with practical DIY skills.
