WARCO’s rubber interlocking paver is made from PU-bonded ELT rubber granulate (ELT = End of Life Tyres). Each unit uses the familiar H/double-T (BEHATON) profile, so the surface matches the look of conventional concrete paving and can be combined with it. The key difference is the material: elastic rubber granulate brings a different set of benefits to hard concrete.
Compared with concrete
A rubber paver won’t match concrete for compressive strength, but it adds real-world advantages. The elastic structure cushions every step and eases joint load. It cuts the clatter of footsteps, rolling luggage or prams, and hard-soled shoes. There is also a degree of shock absorption that helps reduce injury risk in the event of a fall.
For animals
Where dogs, horses or other animals are kept or trained, the benefits are clear. Unlike concrete, the surface warms up more slowly in direct sun and stores less heat, and in cool weather it insulates against ground chill. The grippy, slightly elastic feel provides secure footing and reduces strain on paws or hooves—ideal for dog runs, training areas or shelters.
Typical applications
Walkways, courtyards, shared spaces/play streets, driveways and parking bays. Suitable for cars and vans; continuous HGV traffic only in selected cases. In residential schemes, schools and nurseries or hotels, the noise reduction is a noticeable plus.
Practical advantages
• Classic H/double-T format – visually compatible with concrete paving
• Grippy surface, wet or dry
• Elastic and joint-friendly for people and animals
• Reduces walking and rolling noise
• Pleasant tactile feel; warms up more slowly than concrete; less heat retention
• Light insulation against ground chill
• Frost-resistant, weather-stable; will not rot, crack or splinter
• Low-maintenance: broom, hose or pressure washer
• Made from PU-bonded ELT rubber granulate
Installation & consumption
Laid like conventional interlocking paving. The BEHATON format allows straight runs as well as curves and radii. You need 36 pavers per m². The result looks like concrete but is quieter, more forgiving underfoot and kinder to animals.

PU-bound rubber-granule paving slabs reduce footfall noise outdoors: they prevent noise from hard impacts from arising and damp remaining vibrations.
On rigid surfaces, hard heels create brief, forceful impacts with each step, heard as the familiar clicking noise. Wheeled suitcases, skateboards and transport trolleys can also create rattling noises on rigid surfaces when small, hard wheels sink into joints, strike edges, or briefly lift over changes in level before hitting the surface again. The wider the joints and the greater the differences in level, the stronger these impacts become.
Elastic paving slabs and rubber block paving yield slightly under heels and wheels. With hard heels, this cushions the impact so that the familiar clicking noise does not arise. Calibrated paving slabs without edge chamfers form an almost joint-free walking surface, allowing small wheels to run quietly across the elastic rubber surfacing. The rattling noises typical of rigid surfaces do not occur.
The internal damping of paving slabs made from rubber granules further weakens remaining vibrations and reduces their transmission into the substrate as structure-borne sound. Paving slabs made from rubber granules provide a walkable acoustic surface for paths, passageways and courtyards.
In hotel and residential developments, paving slabs made from rubber granules are an effective means of reducing noise exposure. They can reduce noise exposure significantly.
