What should be checked before laying rubber tiles outdoors?

Before laying the tiles, check whether rainwater can drain from the area. Rubber tiles for areas exposed to the weather are water-permeable, so the layers beneath must allow water to soak away or flow off. Installation is best carried out within the moderate temperature range for the location, around 5 to 17 °C in Central Europe, and out of direct sunlight. Rain during installation causes no harm. However, tiles that have been left in the rain for an extended period and become saturated must be allowed to dry thoroughly before they are laid.

New tiles may have traces of release agent on their surface from the production process. These residues are harmless and gradually wash away by themselves. If necessary, they can be removed with water and a brush or with a pressure washer. The initial rubber smell of new tiles is also harmless and becomes noticeably less pronounced after a short period outdoors. Always follow both the general and the product-specific installation instructions.
