What does delivery recipient mean?
The recipient of a freight delivery does not have to be present in person, but an authorised person must be at the delivery address to accept the shipment and provide legally binding confirmation of receipt; this may be someone authorised by the recipient. If nobody is available to accept the delivery, authority to leave may be given in advance, allowing the freight carrier to leave the shipment at the agreed location, which constitutes proper delivery. Without an authorised person or valid authority to leave, no delivery will be made.
