What are the rules for delivery drivers?
Delivery drivers and recipients should inspect each order together on delivery. Orders are delivered either by parcel service or by freight carrier.
For parcel deliveries, the driver brings the consignment directly to the recipient’s home. If nobody is present, the driver leaves a collection card. Freight deliveries are normally made at the agreed time, and the designated unloading point must be readily accessible for delivery to proceed smoothly.
Pallet consignments up to 2,500 kg are delivered by rigid lorry in local distribution. The vehicle has a tail lift for safe pallet unloading and, where possible, pallets are moved onto the recipient’s premises using a hand pallet truck. Consignments over 2,500 kg are normally delivered by long-haul lorry; in this case, the recipient must arrange for the pallets to be unloaded from the lorry.
The packing list on the pallet confirms that the consignment is correctly addressed. The recipient should check that the packaging is undamaged, the delivery is complete, the goods are intact and the correct items have been delivered.
Where possible, discrepancies should be documented with photographs and confirmed by the delivery driver. Before refusing delivery, contact WARCO by telephone; otherwise, additional costs may arise.
