Sustainable alternatives to plastic event flooring?

Alternatives to plastic event flooring include modular exhibition flooring that can be taken up and relaid. Reusable carpet tiles, plastic click and interlocking systems, and click tiles made from rubber granules are established replacements for single-use exhibition carpet on an exhibition stand. Hire systems supplied through a stand builder are also an alternative, as the same flooring is used by several exhibitors.

Another consideration is the raw material: carpet tiles are available with recycled plastic fibres, while resilient floor coverings are made from recycled rubber granules, including granules from recycled end-of-life tyres (ELTs). For waste prevention, the determining factor remains how often exhibition flooring is used. If the same exhibition flooring is used at ten exhibitions, it is used ten times; repeated use avoids waste compared with a single-use product made from recycled fibres.
