Frequently asked questions

Does grass or weed grow in the joints of rubber granule tiles?

Grass and weeds can grow in the joints between rubber granule tiles.

Where rubber granule tiles are installed with plastic connectors, grass and weeds can grow in the joints. This can also occur where a joint extends down to the sub-base. Bonding the tile edges during installation can close the joint.

With jigsaw interlock tiles, weeds will not normally grow in the joints where the tiles are used and maintained correctly. The same applies to tiles with a concealed jigsaw interlock. Joints in a jigsaw interlock are either too narrow for growth or do not extend to the sub-base.

To avoid unwanted growth, tiles and joints should always be kept clean. With a concealed jigsaw interlock, the joints are either too narrow for growth or do not extend to the sub-base.
