Are walkway tiles glued or screwed down during installation?

Walkway tiles made from PU-bound rubber granules are laid loose, so they are neither glued nor screwed to the substrate. Instead, they are joined to one another by the concealed jigsaw interlock. The interlock sits in the stepped recess beneath the walking surface. This creates a closed walkway surface.

This surface lies loose on the substrate. That is an advantage. If the substrate expands, shrinks or develops cracks, these changes are not transferred to the walkway tiles, so the resilient covering does not crack as a result. No adhesive or drill holes are required, and the covering can be lifted and relaid.

Adhesive is applied at a few points only in exceptional cases, such as for small edge pieces without their own interlock or on walkways with an increased risk of vandalism. This walkway covering is not screwed down.
