Can rubber tiles be used for a garden football pitch?
Rubber tiles made from PU-bound rubber granules and designed for ball games are well suited to a garden kickabout area or football pitch. They offer predictable elasticity and a consistent ball bounce. Their surface remains slip-resistant when wet, and rainwater drains through the tiles. The tiles fit together with a jigsaw interlock to form a continuous playing surface.
Two versions are available. They differ mainly in how closely their dimensions match and in their appearance. One comes straight from the mould with chamfered edges. Slight variations in tile size leave visible joints across the pitch. The other is calibrated and has no chamfer, giving a near-seamless surface. The material itself is much the same in both versions; the difference is in the surface finish. Both are available either in pure recycled tyre rubber granules (ELT) or with a colourfast EPDM wearing layer, so the choice is mainly a matter of appearance.
